Dr Richard Mount started training in Medicine at the University of Sheffield in the year 2000. After many years of study, he qualified as a doctor and was one of the first doctors to complete his hospital Foundation Training. He then started a career in trauma surgery and successfully undertook membership exams from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He gained several years of experience in virtually all major surgical fields working occasionally overseas but primarily in and around Yorkshire, while also holding a Queen’s commission in the British Army’s, Royal Army Medical Core.

In 2012, he switched his career path towards General Practice to develop a better Work-life balance and retrained in South Yorkshire as a General Practitioner. As such, he is happy to manage virtually any general medical problems but still has special interests in musculoskeletal problems/ sports injuries, remote medicine, and minor surgery. He also has a particular interest in healthcare technology and its utilisation in meeting the health needs of our future.

He is still an active member of the UK Emergency Medical Team, which is potentially deployable anywhere in the world as part of the country’s rapid response to humanitarian aid disasters and has regularly undertaken voluntary roles as a medic on remote expeditions worldwide.

He loves to travel and is a big fan of live entertainment- sports, music festivals and comedy. Family and friends are very important to him and help to keep him grounded.
