Repeat prescriptions

For reasons of safety, we are unfortunately unable to accept repeat prescription requests over the telephone. You can request a repeat prescription by completing the right-hand section of your previous prescription form by ticking the medications you require. You can leave it with us at the surgery reception or send it to us by post.

You can also now request a repeat prescription online (using the links on the right). You will need to register to use our online repeat prescription ordering service but this will only need to be done once. Please speak to one of our receptionists if you need any assistance.

Your prescription will usually be ready for collection 48 hours later from either reception or your allocated pharmacy. Please request in good time rather than waiting until you have completely run out.

Many local pharmacists operate a prescription collection and/or delivery service for our patients. Please contact the pharmacies directly for further details. Please note the overall responsibility for ‘ordering’ still lies with you. Please ensure that you only order what you need rather than everything on your repeats list and if changes are made to your repeat medications please communicate this to your pharmacy as soon as possible, otherwise errors/ duplications may occur and you will be contributing to the £300 million of NHS money wasted on medications annually rather than being spent on providing life-saving services.

We are keen to ensure that patients with ongoing medical problems are monitored regularly. If the date for your next review with a doctor or nurse has passed you will be asked to make an appointment. Until you do, there may be delays in getting your prescriptions or we may have to reduce the amount issued (even stopping them altogether) if there is a safety concern.

We may also use your prescription to communicate important messages to you about your medications, please take the opportunity to look at it on a regular basis.
