Appointments

We run all our surgeries by appointment only. If care is needed in a more urgent nature, please consider the appropriateness of going to A&E or a walk-in centre.

You can book an appointment by phoning the surgery or visiting the surgery in person.

You can also now request a non-urgent appointment online and in the foreseeable future, we hope to be able to offer select self-bookable appointments for your convenience.

Same-day appointments are generally released on the morning of the clinic and booked according to need by our experienced care navigators. If there is no availability on the day that you first contact, please consider completing the online consultation form with as much information as is relevant and it will be assessed and actioned by a clinician within the next working day.

If you are struggling with this, please ask a member of staff to help.

Routine appointments are usually booked 2-6 weeks in advance and are the best way of ensuring continuity of care (with a particular clinician) and convenience for yourself.

We will try to make sure you see the doctor of your choice where possible but if they are not available, we will try to book you into an appointment with the most appropriate person.

Home visits

For bedbound or very poorly mobile, housebound patients in whom traveling to surgery by car would not be possible, we can offer a limited service of home visiting.

Please use the service thoughtfully and ring us before 11.00 am wherever possible to ensure your best chance of being assessed that day.

The receptionist will ask for some brief details about your problem and the duty GP will probably ring you back to determine the nature of your illness before arranging to visit.

Remember, a doctor can see four or five people in the surgery in the time it takes for one home visit, so we ask that you don’t request a visit unless you genuinely cannot get into surgery. This service is provided for necessity not convenience.

If you are feeling ‘too ill’ to get into the practice, consider whether or not you would be better off being seen in an emergency care setting and whether an ambulance would be more appropriate.

If you can’t get into the surgery simply because you don’t have transport, it is your responsibility to sort this e.g. bus/ taxi or consider getting a lift with a friend, neighbour, or relative.

If you have moved address out of our practice area, and not advised us, we will unfortunately not be able to make a home visit.

Cancel an appointment

Please contact us if you wish to cancel your appointment by phone or by using an online form.
